MSEF’s Alpine Race Team is designed for skiers 12-19 years old interested in competitive ski racing. Alpine Race is geared toward those athletes moving up from the Griz and Devo programs with an interest in learning racing or continuing to develop skiing fundamentals using racing techniques and tactics. The Alpine Race team continues this development path to provide opportunities for high level competition as skiers grow in skill and age.
The Alpine Race Team utilizes the United States Ski and Snowboard (USSS) development fundamentals to provide age and skill appropriate instruction, and following USSS’s long term athlete development ratios of free skiing, technical drills and training courses.
We believe that the best skiers make the best racers, and we utilize all of Snowbowl’s terrain to develop passionate, well rounded skiers that can rip both the mountain and the race course.
This program is limited to 60 athletes.
The Alpine Race team competes within the USSS Northern Division’s age group race series in Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G.
Members of the Alpine Race team are encouraged to enter at least one sanctioned race during the season and many athletes will compete in the full available race series throughout the season.
Although encouraged, racing is not required, and the Alpine Race team welcomes those athletes that are interested in race oriented training as a path to becoming a great skier.
Athletes with a competition focus are encouraged to add weekday night training, see Additional Programs below.
