Devo (Jr. Freeride/YSL) Team

What is the Devo Team?

The MSEF Devo Program focuses on the training and development of athletes aged 8-11.

This program is a skill development program that will help kids grow their all-mountain and technical skills to become great all-mountain skiers and provide them with the foundation they will need to succeed in Freeride and/or Alpine.

This program is intended to combine both Jr. Freeride and YSL training techniques to give our athletes the most comprehensive training to grow their skiing skills.

This program is limited to 60 athletes.

What do Groups Look Like?

Athletes are divided into groups based on skill level and age regardless of their desired future path.

All athletes will be trained in the skills they need to be great all-mountain skiers and give them the foundation of skills needed to succeed in whichever path they choose for their future.

  • Program Details

The MSEF Devo Program focuses on the training and development of athletes aged 8-11.

This program is a skill development program that will help kids grow their all-mountain and technical skills to become great all-mountain skiers and provide them with the foundation they will need to succeed in Freeride and/or Alpine.

This program is intended to combine both Jr. Freeride and YSL training techniques to give our athletes the most comprehensive training to grow their skiing skills.

The intention of the Devo Program is to offer quality training in both alpine race and freeride styles to give our athletes the foundational skills required to become great skiers before having to choose Alpine or Freeride. It also gives them a chance to experience both so they can make an educated decision for their future  skiing paths.

We strive to offer high quality training to help our athletes become life-long skiers as well as give them the tools they need to be great competitors if they choose.

This program will have both an Alpine and Freeride lead who will work together to design the curriculum. These leads will be in charge of working with Devo Team Families to plan for competitions and races throughout the year and design a competition plan for the athletes.

Alpine Lead: Tatum Phillips (US Ski Team alumni)

Freeride Lead: Owen Curry (PSIA level 200 certified)

    Our training time will be:

80% coached all-mountain skiing (including guided drills)

    10% freeride-style jump training

10% gate training (learning carving and timing)

Athletes are divided into groups based on skill level and age regardless of their desired future path.

All athletes will be trained in the skills they need to be great all-mountain skiers and give them the foundation of skills needed to succeed in whichever path they choose for their future.
